Diziani, Antonio

The son of Gaspare and brother of Giuseppe, Antonio Diziani was a painter active mainly in Venice. He belonged to the Academy of Painting and Sculpture from 1774 and devoted himself to genre scenes and landscapes. Influenced by the pastoral painting of Francesco Zuccarelli and Giuseppe Zais, his works also show Flemish and Dutch echoes and often display a lively, popular, and slightly burlesque character. Among the works securely attributed to him are paintings now in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.
