Thorburn, Archibald

Archibald Thorburn (Lasswade, 31 May 1860 - Hascombe, 9 October 1935) was a Scottish painter and illustrator renowned for wildlife subjects, especially birds. His art combines acute natural observation with refined draftsmanship and a sensitive understanding of habitat. He became one of the most admired animal painters and illustrators of his time.
