Della Gatta, Bartolomeo

Bartolomeo della Gatta, born Pietro di Antonio Dei (Florence or Arezzo, 1448 - Arezzo, 1502), was an Italian painter, illuminator, and architect. A Camaldolese monk, he worked between Tuscany and Umbria and was appreciated for altarpieces and frescoes that combine late Gothic refinement with the new spatial language of the Renaissance. His art reveals cultured drawing, vivid color, and a strong devotional character.
