Calvi, Ercole

Ercole Calvi (Milan, 1824 - Milan, 1900) was an Italian painter especially known for landscapes and views. Active in Lombardy, he cultivated a descriptive and atmospheric approach attentive to architecture, perspective, and the changing effects of light. His work belongs to the nineteenth-century tradition of carefully observed landscape painting.
