Gentile da Fabriano (c. 1370-1427) was one of the greatest exponents of the International Gothic style in Italy. His works are renowned for their sumptuous detail, brilliant surfaces, elegance of line, and aristocratic refinement. He played a key role in shaping early fifteenth-century painting before the full emergence of Renaissance naturalism.
