Da Varese, Giovanni Antonio

Giovanni Antonio da Varese was an Italian painter active in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. His work belongs to the Lombard artistic sphere and reflects the transition from late Gothic traditions to early Renaissance modes. Though still relatively little documented, he is associated with devotional painting shaped by clarity of form and regional character.
