Reni, Guido

Guido Reni (Bologna, 4 November 1575 - Bologna, 18 August 1642) was an Italian painter and one of the central masters of seventeenth-century art. Trained in Bologna and later active in Rome and other centers, he developed an idealized and noble style marked by graceful figures, luminous color, and elevated religious feeling. His art became one of the highest expressions of classicizing Baroque painting.
