Van Huysum, Jan
Jan van Huysum (Amsterdam, 15 April 1682 - Amsterdam, 8 February 1749) was a Dutch painter and one of the most celebrated still-life specialists of the eighteenth century. He became famous for sumptuous bouquets and fruit pieces of extraordinary finish, luminous color, and botanical precision. His works combine scientific observation with decorative splendor and were highly prized by collectors throughout Europe.
