John F. Herring

John Frederick Herring Sr. (Surrey, 1795 - Kent, 1865) was an English painter especially known for horses, racing scenes, hunting subjects, and rural life. Initially linked to the world of sporting art, he later broadened his production to include farmyard scenes and still lifes. His paintings are valued for their lively observation and careful rendering of animals.
