Leon Augustin Lhermitte (Mont-Saint-Pere, 31 July 1844 - Paris, 28 July 1925) was a French painter and draftsman renowned for scenes of rural labor and peasant life. Closely attentive to social reality yet never lacking dignity or humanity, he became one of the foremost interpreters of agricultural work in nineteenth-century France.
