Perugino, Pietro

Pietro Perugino, born Pietro Vannucci (Citta della Pieve, c. 1450 - Fontignano, 1523), was an Italian painter and one of the leading masters of the Umbrian Renaissance. Celebrated for the serenity of his compositions, the sweetness of his figures, and the clarity of his space, he enjoyed immense success throughout Italy. He also played a crucial role as the teacher of Raphael.
